WHAT IS TELEHEALTH?

Telehealth is healthcare delivery or related consultation that use any form of technology as an alternative to face-to-face consultations. This means we will use videoconferencing, internet and/or the telephone to conduct our consultation.

WHO CAN OFFER TELEHEALTH SERVICES?

All registered health practitioners (such as an Osteopath) can use telehealth if they think it is safe and clinically appropriate for your condition and circumstance. Please note that not all neuro-musculoskeletal conditions are treatable via Telehealth.

WHAT MIGHT YOU EXPECT IN A TELEHEALTH CONSULTATION?

The Telehealth consultation will run similar to our face-to-face consultation. A thorougher case history will be conducted. You will be asked to perform some movements and I will guide you to perform some self-assessment tests.

After I have diagnosed your conditions, we will discuss the treatment options. Telehealh provides us the opportunity for reassurance, education on movement/posture, reviewing your exercise program and advice on how to prevent pain triggers (recurring).

IS TELEHEALH HAVE THE SAME REBATE AS FACE-TO-FACE SERVICES?

It is likely the rebate will be different.,

• Private consultation prices will likely incur an out-of-pocket payment.

• Unfortunately, Private health rebates are not available for Telehealth services (please check with your private health insurance, in case you are lucky)

• The new Medicare Telehealth Osteopathy items are only for Chronic Disease Management (CDM) patients and these Medicare CDM services will be bulk billed during COVID-19. You will need a referral from your GP

• WorkSafe Victoria and TAC have approved telehealth services for osteopaths. Please check with your case manager before proceeding.
